The congregation of the First Church in Albany began to meet in 1624 as part of the Reformed Church of America. They built their first church in 1642, and part of their mission was to incorporate Mohawk people into their congregation. In 1763, 332 Mohawk were baptized into the church. The current First Church in Albany building, pictured here, was constructed in 1797.
