Like many of the British colonies in America, New York was divided during the Revolutionary War. We know the Patriots, but who were the Loyalists? This talk will explore why some Hudson Valley colonists remained loyal to the British, what the war was like for Loyalists in the region, and what happened to Loyalists after the conflict.

Speaker Bio:

Kieran O’Keefe is a professor at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. He earned his Ph.D. in History from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C in 2021. He is currently working on his book manuscript, tentatively titled Suffering for the Crown: The Hudson Valley Loyalists, Violence, and Forced Migration in Revolutionary North America.
