Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site is the oldest building in Yonkers. The oldest part of the house dates back to the 1680s. Once home to four generations of the Philipse family, it not hosts a state-of-the-art museum exhibit: “Our Whole History,” which chronicles the history of the site and Colonial New York from First Contact to the present, highlighting stories of Indigenous Munsee Lunaape people, European colonists, including the Philipses, and enslaved Africans, all of whom lived and worked in Yonkers and Westchester County. The exhibits include a special art exhibition featuring descendants from each of the three communities: Indigenous, European, and African, including a piece by local Yonkers artist Richard Haas.
